Federal Election - ID to Vote

You need ID to prove who you are before you can vote, but your ID options are greater than many are led to believe.

Note: The voter information card you get in the mail CANNOT be used as ID - in any way.

Easiest: a government photo ID card with your name and current address.

Or: Two pieces of ID. Both have to have your name, and one with your current address as well. See the long list of acceptable items at the link below

If you have nothing with your address, but have two items with your name, you can take an oath, along with someone who can vouch for you. There are rules which apply to this situation. Please check the same link below.

Your access to valid ID may be easier than you think. Check for even more information at the link below.

Questions? I'll be working at an Elections Canada polling station, so have had some training. Or I can find out more.

Kitchener Leaf Collection Program 2015

For our Alpine area, here are your options:
1) Mulch or compost them at home
2) Place them out for pickup, properly bagged, on the Region's Yard Waste pickup days.
3) Take them to a drop-off site.  Our closest site will be at Lions Arena at Rittenhouse Road.  Open between October 2nd and December 4th.
4) Rake them to the curb loose for pickup.  Move them there for 7 am on November 16th.  The pickup will take place sometime between Nov. 16-20.

NO walkway to be built between Alpine Road and Homer-Watson

The proposed walkway between Alpine Road and Homer Watson Blvd will NOT be built, at least not for a number of years.

Regional Council has decided that there is too little demand for it from our neighborhood, and access to the Family Center and to Family & Children Services will be better served by improving bus access. Council has asked for a review of transit options.

This is the outcome of a Regional Council meeting today in their Planning and Works Committee, which took place today.

The Future of ACNA to be Discussed at Tomorrow's Meeting

How can ACNA best serve the community?  Should we continue with the events and activities we have been doing for the past few years?  Or find new ones?

We will be reviewing our goals, and talking about how best to achieve them at our next meeting tomorrow - 7:00 pm, Tuesday September 15th at Country Hills Community Center, 100 Rittenhouse Road.  Snacks will be provided!
