McLennan Park Update

Paul Singh wrote a note to Ward 6 residents for the Country Hills Recreation Association (CHRA) newsletter.  The topic is the remediation and improvements planned for McLennan Park.  Here it is...
----------------------------------------------

Dear Residents,

As your ward councillor, I want to provide you with an update about the work taking place this summer at McLennan Park.

Although the Great Lawn restoration is a major undertaking, it will bring this area back to its previous glory. The work is considerable, requiring the restoration of the clay landfill cap and grass throughout the entire great lawn area, the addition of trees for added shade, along with some seating areas and trail improvements. I want to take the opportunity to thank you in advance for your patience during this extensive work.

I’m also very pleased to share that with the support of your feedback received over the years, I successfully advocated for some of those further improvements to the park. The larger new trees for some much needed shade around the great lawn area, as well as the new trail to be added along the eastern edge of the lawn (along the roadway) will now create a walking loop and provide better trail connectivity for your enjoyment. A shade structure will also be installed near the playground, a much needed park amenity that many of you also suggested. These new additions will greatly help to improve your park experience.

Feel free to contact paul.singh@kitchener.ca or call me at 519-741-2793. If you prefer to meet and chat in person, I will be at the Country Hills Community Centre the third Wednesday of each month for a drop-in from 7:30-8:30 pm.
